Director of Didcot Sixth Form College
At Didcot Sixth Form College students are very fortunate to experience a sixth form that is separate from, and yet absolutely integral to, Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School, combining the security and advantages of school life with increasing independence and self-reliance. The Sixth Form have the benefit of their own dedicated facilities with separate Common Rooms and Study Areas at both schools as well as a Study Cafe at Didcot Girls’ School. Sixth formers might have lessons at either or both schools and can access the facilities and opportunities available at either one.
In the Sixth Form we treat our students as young adults. We encourage students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning as part of the process of preparing them for their next step after Sixth Form into higher education, apprenticeships or work. Although our Sixth Form is large our tutor system allows us to know all of our students as individuals. We monitor individual personal progress carefully and place great value on regular academic mentoring meetings between students and their tutors.
We value personal as well as academic progress and offer students a range of leadership opportunities and supra and extra-curricular activities that build their skills and complement their studies. Our Sixth Formers are wonderful role-models for our main school students.
We want our students to be successful in their studies, proud of their achievements and to enjoy every aspect of their time with us, leaving us as confident, independent individuals, well prepared for life beyond Sixth Form.
